YAH IS GOD asked:
to pay them all off. I succeeded in getting them all paid off except for 1, which I’m still paying on. Now I want to get a new credit card for purposes of improving my credit (paying on time, etc.) Now that I’ve gone through credit counseling and a debt management program to reduce my debt, what is the best way to convince the major credit card companies to trust you again with a new card?

I would say you don’t have to convince them.

Should probably try paying it off every month instead of paying minimum payment. And try not spending more than you have. I think lot of credit card companies will be eager to give you new cards. They do make lot of money from people like you. They’ll try to get you hooked like people get hooked on tobacco products.

having credit cards is like playing with poisonous snakes……sooner or later, you will get bit.
history is a good teacher…..review your past habits and make a good decision here.

I once had a friend (about 10 years ago this was) who got into credit trouble. I’m not sure how he did it, but when he was ready for a credit card again, he got one issued to him…but the limit was like $750 or $1000. You may have to prove yourself with something like this before moving on to the ones with really high limits.

Pay off your last credit card and then drop me a line.
